Basecamp Tay Ninh |
Tay Ninh, better known as Rocket City; was my last basecamp before returning to Cu Chi for deros back to the world. I spent a good portion of my tour there working on and around Nui Ba Den, the Black Virgin mountain. The US had a small firebase on the very top and we patrolled around the base of the mountain. Charlie owned the rest with large tunnels throughout the mountain. We also patrolled a lot of other territory, Hobo woods , Michelin rubber plantation, Bo Loi woods and some territory close to the Parrots Beak area. I always thought we were in a Cambodia on several mission towards the end of my tour because you could not get air support or artillery fire missions.
